How Does Welo Badge Verification Work?

Learn how Welo Badge reviews your business, applies the Welo Trust Standard, and helps you publish a Welo Page, collect verified reviews, and install website widgets.

How Does Welo Badge Verification Work?
On this page

Welo Badge verifies businesses against the Welo Trust Standard, reviewing their identity, website, policies, payment practices, support, and relevant supporting information. Businesses that pass the review can proceed to certification and activation, then publish a dedicated Welo Page and use interactive widgets so customers can inspect their verification information and published reviews.

The process starts with an application, followed by any company-specific information requests. Here is how to prepare, understand the checks, and put your certification to work after approval.

TL;DR

  • Welo Badge combines manual and automated checks, using five mandatory requirements and eight weighted trust topics.

  • Your application is reviewed before the applicable plan and any required activation payment are presented.

  • After approval and activation, your Welo Page, Welo Verified Reviews tools, and available widgets help customers explore your business beyond a badge image.

1. Check Whether Your Business Is Eligible for Welo Badge

The program is intended for registered businesses with an active online presence, including ecommerce stores, SaaS companies, subscription services, digital products, and consumer services. Before applying, make sure your business has a verifiable identity, a functioning website, reachable support, baseline security protections, and clear business practices.

In practical terms, a visitor should be able to understand what you sell, identify who operates the business, contact you, and find the rules that apply before purchasing or signing up. Check that your main customer journey works and that pricing and policies agree with what happens at checkout.

Excluded activities include gambling, restricted weapons, illegal substances, explicit adult content, counterfeit marketplaces, and deceptive schemes. Review the Welo Trust Standard and full eligibility criteria for the complete scope. Registering an account begins the process, while eligibility and certification depend on review.

2. Apply for Welo Badge and Complete the Requested Information

Start with the application rather than trying to assemble a universal document package. The information requested depends on your business and the questions that need to be resolved during verification.

  1. Open Welo Badge client registration and submit the requested company and contact details.

  2. Return to the client dashboard to continue your application and check the next action.

  3. Complete requests for company details, website information, documents, or additional verification information.

  4. Upload requested files in Documents and submit corrections through the corresponding portal task.

Private verification files and public-page content are separate: uploading a document for review does not automatically publish it on your Welo Page. The Welo Badge application and go-live guide explains the current steps, while your dashboard shows what your company needs to do next.

3. Understand What Welo Badge Checks

The Welo Badge team combines manual and automated checks with publicly available information and relevant supporting documentation. The Welo Trust Standard has two levels: five mandatory pass/fail requirements establish the foundation, while eight weighted trust topics provide a more detailed evaluation.

The five mandatory requirements are:

  • A real and consistent business presence: an active, understandable website with a working purchase or signup flow and consistent information.

  • Verifiable identity and contactability: clear identity signals and at least one functioning support channel.

  • Accessible, usable essential policies: readable terms, privacy information, and refund, return, or cancellation rules appropriate to the business.

  • No critical red flags: no strong evidence of serious deception, identity manipulation, or recurring unresolved harm.

  • Accurate information supplied to Welo Badge: truthful company information and genuine supporting documents.

A high Welo Trust Score cannot compensate for a failed mandatory requirement. When information is incomplete or signals are uncertain, the team may request clarification or additional evidence before deciding.

How the Welo Trust Score Differs From Review Ratings

The Welo Trust Score is a score out of 100 based on weighted trust topics, not an average of customer review stars. It evaluates how the business operates and presents itself across the following areas.

Trust topic

What Welo Badge evaluates

Identity and ownership

Accountability, consistent identity, and contactability

Trust-focused security

Baseline protections and obvious technical red flags

Privacy and data handling

Clear privacy practices and consistency with site behavior

Payments and checkout

Price transparency, billing, renewals, and cancellation clarity

Legal policies

Usable terms and clear refund, return, shipping, and cancellation rules

Support and dispute handling

Accessible support and a clear path to resolving problems

Reputation and behavior

Patterns over time and recurring complaint themes

Risk signals

Scam indicators and deceptive patterns

Weighting can reflect the business model. A subscription service, for example, may receive additional emphasis on billing, renewals, and cancellation because those practices directly affect its customers. Security checks are trust-focused evaluations of baseline protections and obvious risks, rather than penetration testing, which actively probes a system for vulnerabilities.

4. Review the Decision and Activate Welo Badge

Welo Badge reviews your company first, then presents the applicable plan after approval. Complete any required setup fee or subscription step shown in the portal to activate the service; payment does not replace passing verification.

Follow the next action shown for your company before going live, and contact support if a request is unclear. This keeps the decision, applicable offer, and remaining setup steps tied to your application.

5. Publish Your Welo Page Through Welo Badge

After approval and completion of any required plan step, use Edit Welo Page to manage your dedicated public profile. Review the page before sharing it, checking company information, support and policy links, documents selected for publication, approved Welo Trust Score information, and published reviews. Changes may require review before appearing publicly.

Your interactive badge gives visitors access to this page, allowing them to inspect the business information and verification details rather than relying on a static trust image. The following SKIMS page illustrates how a Welo Page presents company information and public trust details.

Certification establishes that a business met the framework at the time of verification. It does not guarantee product quality, delivery times, or an issue-free customer experience.

Collect and Manage Welo Verified Reviews

Open Get reviews to access the available invitation tools and direct review link, which you can share through customer communications. Customers can include optional photos and videos, adding detail that helps other visitors understand their experiences.

Submissions undergo the applicable verification, fraud checks, and moderation before eligible Welo Verified Reviews are published. Invitation allowances are shown in your account, and you can browse feedback in Reviews or report potentially fraudulent or inappropriate content for investigation. Truthful, documented negative feedback cannot be removed arbitrarily.

Reviews complement the verification record with customer experiences that visitors can inspect. For more about the optional media format, see how Welo Badge reviews with photos and videos work.

6. Install a Welo Badge Widget on Your Website

Open Widget in the client portal to choose how visitors will access your Welo Page or see published review content. The Welo Badge widget catalog includes five formats.

Widget

What it displays

Floating Badge

A launcher that opens your Welo Page in a popup

Reviews Widget

Ratings and verified review counts

Video Reviews

Review photos and videos

Tag Widget

Small verified tags for claims and context

Full Review

An individual review card with stars, text, and author

To install your chosen widget:

  1. Open Widget, select a format, and configure its available settings.

  2. Check the preview and select Copy code.

  3. Paste the complete generated block into your website in the appropriate location.

  4. Save and publish the site, then open the live page in a new browser tab.

  5. Test the widget on desktop and mobile.

The company-specific snippet includes your Welo Page URL and selected settings, so keep its URL, company identifier, quotation marks, and other attributes intact. If you change settings, copy the newly generated snippet instead of editing the old one manually.

The Floating Badge script can be placed before the closing </body> tag. Inline widgets include both a container and a script, and their complete block belongs where you want the content to appear. Follow the widget installation instructions and the website-builder integration guide for placement details.

If a widget shows as unavailable, check that the generated URL is unchanged and that your website allows external scripts.

7. Keep Your Welo Badge Information Current

Certified businesses are expected to continue meeting the standard, keep company information and policies accurate, and respond to dashboard requests. As operations change, check that your support channels, checkout, subscription terms, and published information still agree with one another.

The Analytics area provides available company activity and date-range reporting. Select the relevant period before comparing results; access depends on company status, subscription, and permissions. The client portal documentation explains these management areas.

Subscription changes can affect access to your Welo Page, widgets, and analytics. Account owners can use Settings → Billing or contact support, following the subscription management guide when needed.

Start Your Welo Badge Application With the Essentials Ready

The best preparation is a business that customers can understand and contact: a working website, consistent company details, clear policies, and transparent billing. Begin your Welo Badge application with those essentials in place, then use the dashboard requests to complete verification and build a public page customers can explore.

FAQ

What information do I need to apply for Welo Badge?

Start with the company and contact details requested during registration. The portal may then request website information, documents, or additional verification information specific to your business, rather than the same document checklist for every applicant.

Can a high Welo Trust Score make up for a failed mandatory requirement?

No. All five mandatory requirements must be met; the weighted trust topics provide a more detailed evaluation but cannot override a failed foundation requirement.

What does my business receive after Welo Badge approval and activation?

Your business can display the interactive badge, manage its dedicated Welo Page with approved score information, use review collection tools, and install the widgets available through its account.

Are documents submitted for Welo Badge verification automatically public?

No. Files uploaded in Documents for private verification are separate from content selected and approved for publication on your Welo Page.

How much does Welo Badge certification cost?

The applicable plan and any required setup fee or subscription step are presented after application approval. Use that offer for the terms that apply to your company.

Do I need a developer to install a Welo Badge widget?

You can install a widget by copying the generated code into a website builder that supports custom HTML or scripts. Whether you need help depends on your access and your site's setup; if the builder blocks external scripts, contact its support or Welo Badge support before changing the site.
